Everything works without a connection.
Zakat al-māl and Zakat al-fitr calculator
The Zakat module covers the two distinct Zakats. Zakat al-māl (zakāt of capital) is calculated at 2.5% of net wealth after the niṣāb threshold check, with a choice between gold niṣāb (85 g of pure 24-karat gold) and silver niṣāb (595 g of pure silver). Gold and silver prices are fetched live with currency conversion, and remain manually editable if the user prefers a local rate. Zakat al-fitr is handled separately, in food, following the position of the Salaf (see dedicated section).
- Two niṣāb methods to choose from: gold (85 g) or silver (595 g).
- Live gold and silver prices, world currencies, manual override available.
- Assets considered: cash, savings, gold, silver, investments, recoverable receivables.
- Deduction of short-term liabilities before the niṣāb test.
- Calculation history saved locally.
The calculator does not track the ḥawl (lunar validation cycle, 354 days) on the user's behalf. It provides an instantaneous calculation based on declared wealth; each person must verify that their assets have completed the ḥawl before the Zakat becomes due. Wa Allāhu aʿlam.
Zakat al-fitr in food: the Salaf position
The Zakat al-fitr assistant proposes one ṣāʿ of the region's staple food (qūt al-balad), following the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿUmar (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhumā) reported by al-Bukhārī and Muslim. According to the dominant position of Ibn Bāz, Ibn ʿUthaymīn, al-Albānī and al-Lajnah al-Dāʾimah, Zakat al-fitr is given in food, not in monetary equivalent. The app embeds a per-country staple food catalog (semolina in the Maghreb, rice and millet in West Africa, wheat in the Middle East, etc.) to help the user identify the appropriate qūt al-balad.
- Reference measure: one prophetic ṣāʿ (≈ 2.04 to 3 kg depending on the food, to be verified locally).
- Per-country staple catalog: Maghreb, West Africa, Central Africa, Horn of Africa, Middle East, Asia, Europe, Americas.
- Household head count (the head of the family is responsible for dependents).
- Reminder of the timing: before the ʿĪd prayer, at the earliest one or two days before.
The Ḥanafī school's position, which permits the monetary value (qīma) for Zakat al-fitr, is known and respected. Deen Coach follows the dominant Ahl al-Sunnah position by way of the Salaf as recalled by Ibn Bāz, Ibn ʿUthaymīn, al-Albānī and al-Lajnah al-Dāʾimah: food. Any divergence should be settled with a qualified scholar. Wa Allāhu aʿlam.
Hijri calendar: monthly view and bidirectional conversion
The Hijri calendar shows the current month on the hijrī side with a navigable monthly view, and offers bidirectional conversion between Gregorian and hijrī dates. The conversion uses the civil tabular Islamic calendar (30-year cycle, 11 leap years: years 2, 5, 7, 10, 13, 16, 18, 21, 24, 26, 29). This is the deterministic algorithm used for offline computation.
The tabular calendar can differ from actual moon sighting (ruʾyat al-hilāl) by one to two days. It is suitable for planning and reference, but does not replace the local crescent sighting to set the start of Ramaḍān or ʿĪd, per the scholars who recall: ṣūmū li-ruʾyatihi wa-afṭirū li-ruʾyatihi (fast at its sighting, break at its sighting). Wa Allāhu aʿlam.
The 99 Names of Allāh: Ibn ʿUthaymīn's methodology
The Asmāʾ Allāh al-Ḥusnā module presents the 99 Names of Allāh per the compilation of shaykh Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUthaymīn in *Al-Qawāʿid al-Muthlā fī Ṣifāt Allāh wa Asmāʾihi al-Ḥusnā*: 81 names drawn from the Noble Quran and 18 names drawn from the authentic Sunnah (ṣaḥīḥ or ḥasan), without reliance on the weak (ḍaʿīf) enumerative chain of Tirmidhī 3507 and Ibn Mājah 3861. Each name is shown with its textual source (verse or ḥadīth), its meaning, and a brief commentary.
- 81 names from the Quran (#1 to #81 in the app).
- 18 names from the authentic Sunnah (#82 to #99).
- Arabic audio for every name.
- Systematic textual reference: surah/verse or ḥadīth collection.
The ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) reported by al-Bukhārī and Muslim establishes that Allāh has 99 Names whose memorisation (iḥṣāʾ) is rewarded with Paradise, but this ḥadīth contains no enumerative list. The popular enumerative list comes from Tirmidhī 3507, whose chain has been judged weak by Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī, al-Sakhāwī and al-Albānī. The ḥadīth of Ibn Masʿūd (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) reported by Imām Aḥmad further recalls that Allāh has Names He has reserved in His knowledge of the unseen: the Names of Allāh are thus not limited to 99. Wa Allāhu aʿlam.
Islamic glossary: 99 sourced terms
The glossary embeds 99 essential terms organised by category: ʿaqīda (creed), ʿibādāt (acts of worship), Quranic sciences, ḥadīth sciences, fiqh (jurisprudence), ādāb (conduct), sīra (prophetic biography) and pedagogical compilations. Each entry provides a sober definition aligned with the Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jamāʿah understanding via the Salaf, with references to recognised scholars. Deviant currents and major sects are described in a neutral academic tone, without polemic.
- Accent- and case-insensitive search (ḥadīth = hadith).
- Filter by category: ʿaqīda, ʿibādāt, ʿulūm al-Qurʾān, ʿulūm al-ḥadīth, fiqh, ādāb, sīra.
- No definition is fabricated: sources cited by collection or scholar.
Tactile tasbīḥ counter
A tactile tasbīḥ counter lets you track your adhkār (dhikr) without watching the screen: large tap area, light vibration on each increment (toggleable), quick reset, and local persistence of the count. Useful for post-prayer adhkār (subḥān Allāh, al-ḥamdu li-Llāh, Allāhu akbar), loop invocations or istighfār.
Fully offline
All tools work fully offline after install: Zakat calculator (except the live gold/silver price refresh, which can be replaced by manual entry), Hijri calendar (embedded tabular algorithm), 99 Names of Allāh, glossary and tasbīḥ counter. No server call is needed for the essential functions.
