Sourced daily reminders in Deen Coach
More than 100 reminders from the Quran, authentic Sunnah and scholars' words, accessible offline.
A corpus of more than 100 sourced Islamic reminders, organised around ten themes (tawḥīd, Quran, prayer, dhikr, ākhirah, trials, knowledge, family, purification, discipline). Each reminder cites its precise source: Quranic verse with surah and number, ḥadīth from Bukhārī, Muslim, Sunan, Musnad Aḥmad or Muwaṭṭaʾ with its number, quote from a recognised scholar (Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn al-Qayyim, Ibn Kathīr, Ibn Bāz, Ibn ʿUthaymīn, al-Albānī…) with the work, volume and page. Dedicated hub with Explore / My reminders tabs, local search, personal lists (Understood, Saved, To review, History). Reminder of the day integrated in the dashboard, customisable daily notification, fully offline.
Editorial promise
A short reminder circulating on social media has often lost its source along the way: a quote attributed to a scholar who never said it, a ḥadīth presented as authentic when it is weak or even fabricated, a Quranic verse stripped from the context that illuminates its meaning. Deen Coach takes the opposite stance: each reminder ships its precise reference, so the user can trace back to the original text and judge for themselves.
This stance flows directly from the Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jamāʿah methodology following the way of the Salaf al-Ṣāliḥ: religion is not built on what is not established. Wa Allāhu aʿlam.
Sources of the reminders
The corpus shipped at V1 is structured around five types of sources, always named and referenced in each reminder: Quranic verses (with surah and āyat number), authentic ḥadīths (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, Sunan, Musnad Aḥmad, Muwaṭṭaʾ with their number), ḥasan ḥadīths (with authentication authority, e.g. al-Albānī in `Ṣaḥīḥ al-Tirmidhī`), canonical adhkār (with their collection), athar of the Salaf (with collection and editor), quotes from recognised scholars (with work, volume and page).
- Quranic verses: vocalised Arabic text in the Ḥafṣ ʿan ʿĀṣim reading through the way (ṭarīq) of al-Shāṭibiyyah.
- Ḥadīths: numbering from reference editions (al-Bukhārī, Muslim, al-Tirmidhī, etc.).
- Scholars quoted: Ibn Kathīr, Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn al-Qayyim, Ibn Rajab, Ibn Bāz, Ibn ʿUthaymīn, al-Albānī, al-Saʿdī among others; work, volume and page indicated.
- Athar of the Salaf: collection (`Siyar Aʿlām al-Nubalāʾ` by al-Dhahabī, `Jāmiʿ al-ʿUlūm wa al-Ḥikam` by Ibn Rajab, etc.) and editor cited.
Frequency personalisation
The reminder of the day is embedded in the dashboard, and a daily notification can be scheduled at the time of your choice in `Settings > Notifications`. Granularity is fine: each category (reminder of the day, verse of the day, morning adhkār, evening adhkār, Ḥifẓ revision reminder, Friday reminder for surah al-Kahf and the Jumuʿah prayer) enables independently with its own time slot. Everything works offline: reminders are scheduled locally on the phone, without any server call.
- Per-category setting: you can enable one reminder without all the others.
- Notification time configurable to the slot (morning, evening, noon…) according to your routine.
- No gamification, no enforced streak, no social pressure.
- Global toggle disablable at any time from the system settings.
Smart reminders
"Smart" does not mean generative AI: the word designates here a contextual and respectful behaviour. Reminders are planned locally by the app, taking into account your time zone and interface language (notifications are emitted in French, English or Arabic according to your choice). The reminder of the day auto-rotates within the corpus without repeating the same reminder two days in a row. Personal lists (`To review`, `Saved`, `History`) allow you to bring back a recently worked reminder.
No personal usage data is sent to a server. Personal lists, notes and history remain on the phone.
Validation methodology
The corpus comes from a validated editorial document (`docs/features/rappels_corpus.md` in the mobile repo), then automatically generated into a seed database embedded in the app. This automatic generation avoids divergence between the reference text and the displayed text. Any change to the corpus follows a precise cycle: (1) editing the validated document, (2) verifying references against canonical editions, (3) ṭālib al-ʿilm audit of any doctrinal passage, (4) seed generation and version bump, (5) propagation to existing users without losing their favourites, notes or progress.
- An erroneous attribution detected (for example a misattributed athar) is tracked in an audit comment and corrected.
- The gradings "ṣaḥīḥ", "ḥasan", "ḍaʿīf" are preserved as in the authentication source.
- A weak or fabricated ḥadīth is never used as proof of a ḥukm: it is an absolute rule.
Sourced library
The Reminders hub (`Reminders > Explore`) presents the whole corpus as cards. Each card shows: the reminder title, the theme (tawḥīd, Quran, prayer, dhikr, ākhirah, trials, knowledge, family, purification, discipline), the format (verse explained, ḥadīth explained, scholar's word, Salaf story, fiqh note), estimated reading time, and personal progress state (unread, in progress, understood). A theme filter and a local text search allow you to find a reminder quickly, even offline.
- `Explore` tab: the whole corpus with theme filter.
- `My reminders` tab: Understood, Saved, To review, History.
- Local search: title, source, theme, keyword, everything is indexed on the device.
- Reminder detail: explanation, practical takeaway, optional link to the original surah or ḥadīth when present in the app.
